Is there any way to reverse the aging process?

newyorkbrain2 asked:

Not cosmetic, but the actual reversal of the cellular causes of aging and death.

No…But you can slow down aging…I mean getting really old and disabled….You may not accept it but living a happy life with no stress can slow down aging…Some people say the royal gel which worker honey bees give to other workers to become a queen bee, can slow down DNA destruction…which causes aging…

Aging and death is a basic phenomenon of life, so normally we cannot reverse. But somtimes this fact can be altered by the scientists. I mean the cloned animals (the firs was Dolly the sheep) where an old cell give rise to a new organism or look at the stem cell therapies where a patient can be revitalised after a heart attack. Somtimes unfortunately immortal cells cause problem like cancer.
Reverse the aging process in a whole body is problematic because the cells are can be found in tissues where the ambiance of the cells hardly can be altered and the aging is coded by the DNA.
So at this stage we only can revitalise a single cell partially an organ but not a whole organism. But the scientists never give up!

You can’t reverse the aging process. But, you can age well by just doing the basics right. Do quite a bit of exercise, eat much fresh produce, sleep enough, manage your stress level, and enjoy whatever you are doing (being either work and your main relationships).

If you do the above well, you could be in far better shape (even at the cellular, metabolic, and chemical levels) than someone decades younger who does them badly.

However, by the time we are 85 or so our machine is about spent. The goal is not so much lifespan, but a good life.

YES!!! IF… Korean researchers announcing the actions of the chemical named CGK-733 are telling the truth. It stopped cell senescence (aging) and even REVERSED it in some cases. The results of their study were published online June 11, 2006, so it is not very well known yet. There is ONE reference to it on “PubMed”. The full article is in the publication “Nature Chemical Biology”. If true, this is the FIRST time this has ever been done. Clinical applications are an estimated 10 years down the road, so in the meantime, eat right, exercise, don’t smoke, avoid downtown Baghdad, and try not to take Amtrak!

It has been reported that a restricted diet that maintains your weight at about 85% of normal will extend your life, based on experiments performed on mice. The down side is that you are miserable all of the time.

At about 18 years of age the body truly starts to “die” in that it all starts to go downhill from there. (Hormonal prompting is part of that I think) If a way to stop that dying process was discovered and given at that point-who knows…There are scientists studying the aging process so maybe they will come upon a fountain of youth someday. I’m approaching 60 but It’s not any problem for me anyway-I wouldn’t have believed it before but it’s a great age to be!
