What would be the negatives of slowing down the aging process?

adiavoy asked:

So I have an essay, and I chose not to have a “anti-aging” (in order to live to 180 years old) procedure done partly because it wouldn’t be natural, and it’d be boring. What are some other downsides?

the cost of keeping you looked after for an extra 100 years? Your mental health- I want to die when Im old, life isnt that much fun!

how about the amazing amount of overcrowding if many people did it?

over population of earth. too many people being born without enough dying so the earth would get overcrowded :)

Ok, so you chose *to* do this, or *not to* do this…go back and double check your Details, sorry, they’re a little confusing.

–If you chose not to, yeah, it’s because you want to be natural, maybe have better mental health in your old age, and not have to take up to three times as much time or money to work, retire and then die, as the average person.

And seriously, to really make this work and get the full 180 years, you’d likely have to get this done shortly after birth too, meaning it would also take you longer to grow up. Who wants to spend close to ten years in middle school, followed by 12 years in High School? o__O

But basically, yeah, those are the drawbacks….it would take you longer to do everything, and taking more time would also mean needing more money and more everything.

–If you chose *to do this*, well, then you would look younger for years and years, including being a child or teenager (in body at least) for decades. You would age at one-half to one-third your normal rate, so you wouldn’t grow as fast or as much–meaning you get to wear smaller clothes, “yay”. And you’d be able to see illnesses coming, at least the ones that normally sneak up on you in old age, things like heart failure and cancer.

So basically if you went along with this, you’d end up being cute and healthy for an annoyingly long time. *lol* Long enough to see your great-great-grandkids grown up–if you’re allowed to breed this way.

So yeah, I’d say it’s a pretty messed-up thing. Really. Especially if you’re stuck being younger longer too–in school longer, but also unable to vote or drive or anything longer too.

    Hope this helps. ^__^

If you want it to be natural, you will have to feel younger more than thinking of looking younger.
